Built in 1923 in the Craftsman style and placed on the National Registry of Historic Places on January 13, 2010, the Proctor District's Blue Mouse Theatre is the oldest continuously operating movie theater in the Pacific Northwest. It opened in 1923 with the showing of the silent movie, Green Goddess. Dale Chihuly, renowned glass artist born in Tacoma, designed the neon blue mice seen scurrying across the marquee. Movies are shown 7 evenings a week with matinees on Saturday and Sunday. There is also a special showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show twice a month.
